Beginner Turtle

Turtles and tortoises are not the best pet for everyone. Even the smallest species requires a lot of space. If you think that you're ready to care for a turtle or a tortoise, make sure to do your research first. You don't necessarily want to bring home the small Sulcata tortoise that you, because it won't stay so small for long.


Best Beginner Pet Turtle and Tortoise

There are a few species that I'd recommend for beginner turtles and tortoises, which do not include the sulcata tortoise.

Red ear slider
Box turtle
Razor-backed Musk Turtle
Russian tortoise
Greek Tortoise
Red-Footed Tortoise
