Common Health Problems for Pet Snakes
September 12th 2008 00:16
Although snakes are typically pretty healthy pets, especially if you purchase them from reputable breeders and are captive bred and born, they still have common health problems, just like any other pet.
Some of the common health problems for pet snakes include:
Abscesses
Blister Disease
Constipation
Cuts and/or Abrasions
Inclusion Body Disease
Internal Parasites
Mites & Ticks
Regurgitation
Respiratory Illness
Shedding problems (retained eyecaps, tail)
Stomatitis or mouth rot
You can typically tell a sick snake from a healthy one because they typically look different than healthy snakes. Common signs of a sick pet snake can include:
Wrinkled skin
Regurgitation
Discharge in nose or mouth
Lethargy
Abnormal feces or urine
Decreased or lack of appetite
You will find that healthy snakes have clear eyes, nose, and mouth. They typically are rather round from a healthy diet, and in general, healthy snakes are alert.

Raw Fish
I thought it might be mites.
Can you tell me what this symptom is indicative of?
