Is My Dog Going Deaf
June 5th 2011 01:01
It is more common in older dogs, but on occasion, you will find younger dogs and even puppies that may start to go deaf.
The signs that your dog is going deaf may include the following:
* Your dog may not come when called.
* Your dog doesn't react when objects are dropped or loud noises are made.
* Your dog becomes startled when you come up behind him.
Unfortunately, there is no test that can determine whether or not your dog is losing his hearing or not, as hearing loss is completely subjective.
If your dog suffers moderate hearing loss, he may be able to hear loud noises or you when nearby. If your dog is suffering severe hearing loss, he may experience complete loss of hearing, period.
Your dog can still live a happy and fulfilled life without his sense of hearing, especially is the sense of site is still fine.
