Dog Food Allergies

Although, it's usually the last thing checked, your dog's allergies may be caused by what he's eating, and it's actually pretty common for dogs to be allergic to certain foods. I have known a good number of people who have had to purchase special diets because their pooch was allergic to one thing or another. It can be hard, but you do what you have to do to keep your dog healthy and reaction-free.
If you find out that yoru dog is allergic to something that he's eating, you want to make sure to change his diet. Typically, it will take at least six to ten weeks before the old toxins are out of your dog's body, so if you try changing the dog's food you have to keep him on the new dog food until at least ten good weeks. If the allergic reactions persist or start to reoccur after that period, then it's time for a new dog food.
Dogs with food allergies will typically have them year round, versus seasonally. They will generally develop the reactions at an early age and not respond to medications.
Food allergies are usually the last thing the vet checks for, so it's good to do a little research the minute you think your dog has any sort of allergy.
