Average Dog Lifespan - How Long Will My Dog Live
For so many years, it's always thought that for every one dog year, it equals seven human years. Well, this isn't always the case.
Depending on the size of the dog, the equivalent human years will vary.
Looking at the chart on the link above, you can somewhat calculate how old your dog is when compared to you, but that will never give you an estimate of how long your dog will live.
The lifespan your dog will have will vary on many factors.
1. Health- this includes your dog's health, as well as his family health history.
2. Care- how well do you care for your dog? Does he get regular vet visits? Is he solely and outside dog? Is he groomed regularly? Does he get flea/tick and heartworm medicines?
3. Diet- What does your dog eat- table scraps, premium dog food, high filler dog food, raw food?
4. Size- smaller dogs tend to live longer than larger dogs. When it comes to a larger dog, the heart must pump harder to reach all areas of the body, which in turn wears it out faster, so to speak.
5. Gender
6. Breed
There are many factors that can be calculated into how long your dog will live, but unfortunately, there is no way to tell exactly how long your dog will live.
