Glow in the Dark Dog
April 28th 2009 18:57
This is about near ridiculous...
(The team) took skin cells from a beagle, inserted fluorescent genes into them and put them into eggs before implanting them into the womb of a surrogate mother, a local mixed breed.
Six female beagles were born in December 2007 through a cloning with a gene that produces a red fluorescent protein that make them glow, he said. Two died, but the four others survived.

They have already cloned glow in the dark mice and pigs. They even created glowing cats in 2007.
As for the dogs... They glow ruby under ultraviolet light. The nails and abdomens have very thin skin even appear red to the naked eye.
Although, there is purpose to the madness, it's still madness if you ask me.. We can only hope that these Ruppy puppies (ruby puppy), and yes that's what they're calling them. will be the start of cures for genetic diseases.
