The Toyger

Ok, so along the lines of gorgeous cats, I can't forget the Toyger. I first heard of and saw pictures of this gorgeous cat in a magazine in around 2006, or so. I was amazed by the beauty of the cat and the time spent by its creators selectively breeding to get the perfect appearance.
The Toyger is just that a Toy Tiger. They're legal pet tigers that you can have as pets... Well, not really... They're more or less a domestic cat that looks just like a tiger. The domest cat breed is the result of breeding various short haired tabbies so that they offspring had stripes resembling that of a tiger. It took a lot of searching for the perfect beginner cats for the project.
The creators intended on selectively breeding the domestic cat so to raise awareness for wild tigers and conservation, and today the breed of domestic cat is probably one of the more sought after breeds.
Judy Sudgen began breeding the cats in the 1980s when she started looking for domestic tabbies that she would be able to enhance the mackerel markings. She ended up breeding a Bengal Cat with a domestic, short hair tabby with distinct body striping.
Sudgen has worked long and hard to create a cat with distinct tiger markings and structure. She has even gone as far as selectively breeding the Toyger so that it has more rounded ears instead of the typical pointed domestic cat ear. They have blockier heads and flatter muzzles. The eyes have even been selectively breed to be almond shaped, wide set towards the back of the head, and tilted at the 45 degree line to the center of the head.
