When training your dog basic obedience or fun tricks, you want to consider what treats you're giving him. You want the treats to taste good, but you also want them to be healthy.
Training treats should be small, so that your dog can eat them quickly in-between tricks. You want to be able to hand out a handful of them per training session, so you want the dog treats to have low fat.
There are several different kinds of dog treats on the market, but you'll find they aren't all ideal for training. Milkbones and larger snacks just aren't ideal. Consider Zukes or Charlie's, as seen below. These are small and easy to hold and eat. They are healthy and dog's generally love them.
When offering treats, make sure to keep them minimal and less than 10% of your dog's basic diet. Even the healthiest treats can be aide obesity if offered too much.
