Is a Wolf Hybrid a Good Pet?
April 12th 2010 16:03
Wolf hybrids are popular pets, but they are not always legal in every state. Before you get a wolf hybrid, you need to check your state laws. Wolf hybrids are still considered wild animals by many states.
Many people like to compare wolf-dog mixes to Pit Bulls and other bully breed dogs that succumb a bad reputation. The difference between the two is that a wolf-dog mix is a dog mixed with a wild animal. A Pit Bull or bully breed is a domestic dog down to the core.
There are some cases in which the wolf hybrid have been great pets, but in many statistics, the owners do not keep the mix until it dies, so it's hard to determine why that's the case. If it's such as great dog, why don't they still have it or at least have it until it dies of old age?
But anyway, if you decide to bring home a wolf hybrid, please make sure that you are properly experienced and aware of caring for a wild animal.
Wolf Dog Hybrid as a Pet
Wolf dogs can be very stubborn, high-strung, and even skittish. Many are scared of loud noises, fast movements, and new people or objects. If you decide to get a wolf dog hybrid, you want to make sure that you're ready and prepared because training a wolf mix is not for the inexperienced.
Do keep in mind that wolf mixes will generally portray more domestic dog characteristics than wolf for the first 18 months. Around that point, you'll start to see more wolf characteristics, especially in terms of temperament and behavior.
